Grand Star Elementary hosted Relay for Life week (April 12 - 16). Students participated by donating change. The classroom in each grade level raising the most money was able to "pie" their teacher during the end-of-week assembly! Students and staff also participated in pajama day and a hat day.
GSE students and staff raised a record amount for the school ($1,750) that was donated to the American Cancer Society.
On May 7, GSE hosted an assembly and memorial walk. The winning classrooms "pied" their teacher and all students participated in a memorial walk around the GSE and TRMS track to honor cancer survivors, those still fighting, and in remembrance of loved ones lost to cancer. Students decorated a cancer ribbon in honor or memory of someone. These ribbons were displayed during the walk.
Grand Star has participated in Relay for Life every year since opening in 2013 (except for last year due to the pandemic)!
