USD 231 is dedicated to providing opportunities to learn through technology resources. This site will be periodically updated with additional resources.

GENERAL

  • BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr -  Short animated movies on science, social studies, English, math, engineering and technology, health, and arts and music. Each movie contains quizzes and related materials.  BrainPOP Jr - Grades

  • Learning Across Kansas -   Kansas Public Broadcasters is offering supplemental education content by way of a new television program produced by Kansas PBS stations and KSDE, and hosted by local teachers. The new program called Learning Across Kansas will begin airing the week of April 20. Each 30-minute segment will feature grade-specific educational content delivered by Kansas teachers who serve on KSDE’s Continuous Learning Task Force.

  • San Diego Zoo Wildlife Live Stream - Enjoy live stream cams of the wildlife at the San Diego Zoo as the eat, play, and explore.

  • Scholastic Learn at Home - Day-by-day projects for reading, thinking, and growing.

  • Study Island - Practice ELA, math, science, and social studies in this interactive through this educational resource.

  • The Exploratorium - an ongoing exploration of science, art, and human perception. Contains a collection of online experiences and education resources supporting online learning.

  • Virtual Field Trips - These are fun and wonderful websites that will show you different parts of the world, famous landmarks, beautiful works of art, historic marvels, science adventures and so much more!

  • Dubai Garden Glow - The Dubai Garden Glow is a themed garden that incorporates glowing lights to create magical experiences. 

COMPUTER SCIENCE

  • Code.org - Coding lessons and resources.

EARLY LEARNING

  • Storyline Online - The SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Online Library of Read Alouds by various actors and actresses.

  • Vroom has activities to support brain development. Ages birth - 5.

  • Scholastic Learn at Home - Day-by-day projects for reading, thinking, and growing.

  • The Phonics Dance - Ginny Dowd teaches phonics, reading, writing skills through movement and dance.

MATH

  • Bedtime Math - Daily math problems to build mathematical literacy. 5 minutes of number fun for kids and parents at home. Read a cool fact, followed by math riddles at different developmental levels.

  • Estimation 180 - Building number sense one day at a time.

  • Esti-Mysteries - Estimation meets mystery. Each image invites students to wonder what number is represented by the image. As you click through each Esti-Mystery, clues will appear that will allow the students to use math concepts to narrow the set of possibilities to a small set of numbers. In the end, the students will need to call upon their estimation skills to solve the mystery and find the missing number.

  • ThinkCentral - Digital materials associated with Math Expressions.

  • Which One Doesn't Belong - A website providing puzzles for students. No answers provided as there are many different and correct ways of choosing which one doesn't belong.

READING

  • Epic! - Digital library for kids age 12 and under.

  • Newsela - Read about current events at student’s reading level. Age 8+.

  • ReadyGEN - Reading materials associated with the ReadyGEN reading platform. To access students will login to Google with their School Google account, go to the Google Apps icon (keypad top right corner), scroll to the bottom, and select Pearson Easy Bridge.

  • Starfall - educational games, stories and lessons. Ages PS-3.

  • Storyline Online - The SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Online Library of Read Alouds by various actors and actresses.

  • Time for Kids - Digital library containing current events and other interesting articles. Grades K-6.

SCIENCE

  • Globe Observer - An international network of citizen scientists and scientists working together to learn more about our shared environment.

  • Mystery Science - K-5 science lessons available with no signup or login required.

SOCIAL STUDIES

VIRTUAL TOURS/FREE MUSEUMS

  • Cincinnati Zoo - plans to live stream several animals and exhibits starting March 16, every week day at 3 p.m.

  • Discovery Education Virtual Field Trips - Discovery Education takes students on virtual fields trips. This site includes resources and activities to enhance the virtual experience.

  • Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems - Mo Willems invites viewers into his studio every day for his Lunch Doodle. Learners worldwide can draw, doodle and explore new ways of writing by visiting Mo’s studio virtually once a day. New episodes are posted each weekday at 1:00 p.m. ET and then remain online to be streamed afterwards.

  • National and State Parks Virtual Tour - Opportunity to explore national and state parks online.

WRITING

  • Read, Write, Think - Interactive tools that help students read, write, and think. From organizing their thoughts to learning about language. Grades K-5.

  • Boom Writer - Begin with a story starter and students begin to write. After the different developments are read, students decide which direction the story should take. Grades 3-8.
